Lots of news from Carlson Software these days. Our Boston office has moved to a roomier space with a view of the Charles River.
Our new address is: 480 Pleasant St, Suite C100 Watertown, MA 02472. The Boston phone is still 617-393-2300.
Carlson Machine Control is being used around the world -- here's some news about the Carlson DrillGrade 3D Drilling System being used in Sweden.
If thinking about buying software or new hardware from Carlson, now is a good time to do it before the end of the year. Not only is Carlson Software still offering some of its most popular software solutions at special end-of-year prices, but the IRS has upped the limits on Section 179 deductions, which would include all of Carlson's products. Save now on the software and later on your taxes.
It's the Carlson Civil Suite, Carlson Survey Embedded AutoCAD, and its just-released-this-year Carlson CADnet that are available until close of business on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at a reduced cost.
And for those looking for a post processing program, Carlson SurveyGNSS is now released. It's for surveyors and positioning professionals looking to achieve centimeter accuracy when working on the edge of their RTK infrastructure, perform sub-centimeter positioning, and/or provide the highest quality assurance to their customers.

Why Carlson?--
Because machine control is only as good as the model
In the second of our series featuring Carlson Software users, we're highlighting Hannes Schneider and Jed Cook, who work for RJ Grondin & Sons, a family-owned contracting firm located in Gorham, Maine.

Cook used Carlson Takeoff to develop the model for construction of a 2.52-mile, 10-foot-wide recreational paved pathway, which is part of the Maine Mountain Division Trail.
Cook: "While this is a bike/recreational path, it was designed in the exact same manner as a road. No two cross sections were the same so a lot of detail had to go into the model. Some of the data came from the state, which farmed out the engineering. They gave us the engineer's version of the 3D model. It wasn't machine grade. It wasn't really anything grade, so I used Carlson to do most of this modeling because there's a lot of functions in Carlson's road software that can speed that up. You can put in a lot of the typical and a lot of the shape of the road with a few keystrokes instead of hours punching in every grade at every location." Read more...
