Happy Birthday, CityArts!
A weekend full of activities are planned for July 25-26 to celebrate CityArts' 10th birthday in Old Town Square. The "CityArts Xtravaganza" will include free activities for the general public on Friday night and a gala on Saturday evening. A limited number of gala tickets are currently on sale for $50 each. The following exhibits will be on display through July 19.  Admission is free to CityArts' exhibition galleries that are open 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday; 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Final Friday; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday.

The 4th Annual American Indian Festival is a powerful event that connects visitors to Wichita's American Indian past and future. Join us this weekend July 12-13 at Century II Expo Hall to watch an unforgettable powwow, shop in the Indian Fine Art Market and enjoy mouth-watering Indian tacos. Doors open at 10 a.m. both days. 

 

Education, Class Calendar

We encourage you to keep an eye on the Indian Center's calendar for updates about new events and programs.  


July 26: Beaded Feather Earring Class, 1-3 p.m., Buffalo Hall. This class is free for Indian Center members and $20 for the general public.   

 

Aug. 2: Beaded Dangle Earring Class, 1-3 p.m. This class is $10 for Indian Center members and $20 for the general public.

Get Wowed at Cowtown

Cowtown has launched a new promotional campaign encouraging local and regional visitors to find their "wow" moments there this summer. The "Cowtown Wow" campaign includes newspaper, television, radio and outdoor billboard advertising that highlight Cowtown's uniqueness as a vacation - or staycation - attraction. To add an interactive component, visitors who use #CowtownWOW in their Facebook and Twitter posts may see their photos/videos used in the campaign.  

 

There are fun things to do at Cowtown any day of the week. Daily attractions include:

  • Gunfights at noon and 3:30 p.m.
  • Carriage rides 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sarsaparilla and snacks in Fritz Snitzler's Saloon all day
  • Costumed interpreters located in buildings throughout the grounds
  • Blacksmithing demonstrations
  • Shopping in the Gift Shop, located inside the Visitor's Center
  • Empire Hall Special Exhibit: "What's In A Name"
