The Hodge House at Cowtown

Celebrate Black History Month
at Old Cowtown Museum

Across American, February is recognized as Black History Month. Old Cowtown Museum would like to introduce you to one of Wichita's first African American families -- the Hodges, whose home is one of 54 structures at the Museum. The Hodge House is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m-5 p.m., and it represents a typical working-class home built between 1878 and 1885.

The history of the Hodge house would have been lost if it wasn't for astute work by Cowtown staff. Click here to find out why its original location made curators believe the home had an entirely different purpose.
