Winter art classes are off to a great start at CityArts. If you didn't already reserve your seat for one of our January classes, you'll have another chance in February when the second half of our session kicks off. There are nearly 30 classes for you to choose from in February that appeal to both youth and adults. You can register by calling (316) 350-3245 or go online.
 
High-Tech Classes Fitting for A High-Tech City

Could Wichita be the Silicone Valley of the Midwest? That notion may not be too far-fetched if you look at the recent report by the Bay Area Council Economic Institute. It ranked Wichita No. 6 among the top metro areas in the nation in high tech jobs with 15 percent of jobs in Wichita considered high-tech.

Thankfully, CityArts is well-prepared to serve the educational needs of our current and future high-tech workers. CityArts' Digital Arts Studio offers four one-year completion programs in the areas of Film, Design, Photography and Multimedia. ...(learn more).

Valentine's Day Powwow Feb. 9 

The first powwow of the year at the Mid-America All-Indian Center is a sweet one with intertribal dancing, audience participation dances, arts and crafts vendors and more! The Valentine's Day Powwow from 1-10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 is free and open to the public, but donations are being accepted to help fund the upcoming American Indian Festival in July at Century II.

Throughout the day, the public is invited to participate in chance drawings for gift cards and Valentine's Day-themed gifts!

town' Say A Lot   
Old Cowtown Museum's Empire Hall is home to many exhibits throughout the year that put an added spotlight on historical topics. The current
show on display, however, puts a spotlight on the people who make Cowtown so special -- its volunteers, staff and entertainers. The exhibit, titled "Faces of Cowtown," is on display through March 15 and is included with Museum admission.   
 

Empire House Live! Calendar 

The Empire House Live! concert and theater series is kicking off 2013 with improv comedy and melodrama.   

 

Feb. 16: Say What?! Comedy Improv, 8 p.m.
Feb. 21-23: Melodrama Theater, 7 p.m.
March 16: Say What?! Comedy Improv, 8 p.m.

Orientation Exhibit Coming Soon    

Cowtown is in the midst of a little change. The Brown Barn, located across the street from the Presbyterian
Church, will soon be home to a new orientation exhibit that will tell the story of Cowtown. Plans are to have the exhibit open by April.

James R. Mead is most well-known as a bison hunter, trader and town founder, but he was also a prolific writer.
