BDPA Announces Keynotes for Local Awards Banquets

Washington--The excitement continues to build for National BDPA's 35th Annual Technology Conference and Career Expo to be held next summer at the Hilton Washington, August 13-17, 2013.

  

The theme for the 2013 technology conference is 'Diverse Opportunities in the Age of Convergence'. National BDPA's (NBDPA) Host Chapter in 2013, BDPA Washington, D.C. (BDPA-DC) recently announced this year's STEM Awards Banquet keynote speakers for industry (APBI) and interns (APBi) respectively will be Vice Admiral Manson Brown, U.S. Coast Guard (above) and Ms. Pamela Gilliam, CEO, Infotek International. BDPA-DC will host its annual Banquet at the DC Navy Yard, Wednesday evening, November 7, 2012. Black-tie optional. Names of attendees and guests are required on or before November 2, 2012. 

Vice Admiral Brown is responsible for all facets of support for the Coast Guard's diverse mission set through oversight of human capital, life-cycle management for all Coast Guard assets, engineering, acquisitions, telecommunications, information technology, and thirteen support Bases around the Nation.


Vice Admiral Brown is a native of Washington, DC. A 1978 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, he also holds Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and National Resources Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is a registered professional civil engineer.

  

Vice Admiral Brown and Ms. Gilliam will respectively address STEM workforce challenges and opportunities for ICT industry executives and STEM professionals with a young and distinguished community audience of national High School Computer Competition (HSCC) and IT Showcase (ITSC) finalists. BDPA-DC celebrates its 35th Anniversary in 2013.  bt
 
Union, NJ--BDPA New Jersey will host an annual fundraiser and awards banquet in November. This year's theme is "Ignite, Inspire & Empower" and the chapter's keynote speaker is Ms. Janice Coleman of Janice Coleman Corporation, which specializes in leadership, life coaching and business communications.  A cordial invitation is extended to join BDPA for this festive event on Thursday,  November 8, 2012 from 6 - 10PM at the Galloping Hill Inn located at 325 Chestnut Street,  Union, NJ 07083.   


The success of local BDPA chapters requires your support. As a BDPA supporter one is able to make this and future event programs memorable for our youth and community stakeholders. Moreover, attendees would be helping America close its digital divides which still exist in many urban communities. Contributions are more than charitable donations. Opportunities exist to build relationships with future employees, clients and students. One's involvement is an investment in tomorrow's advancement in technology. bt

[NBDPA - All BDPA Chapters]
The IRS filing deadline for Organizations with a Fiscal Year end date of December 31st, 2012 is Midnight EDT on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Due to the large volume of returns anticipated, IRS will accept returns for processing until 5:00 pm EDT on Wednesday, May 15, 2013.
   

 

[NBDPA - All BDPA Chapters and Eligible Students]
Qualified NBDPA Student Members currently pursuing STEM careers may earn up to $10,000 for college with recent BDPA Chapter participation through the National Naval Officers Association (NNOA). The NNOA application deadline for STEM Scholarships is Friday November 9, 2012.  Students should contact local BDPA Chapters for details and BDPA Chapter endorsement letters where applicable. There are no obligations for active or reserve duty with any of our nation's Sea Services--U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, nor U.S. Coast Guard.  Student membership in NBDPA is $25.00 per year. Join or renew student memberships on or before October 31, 2012 for this and other member-only student advancement opportunities.
