October 7, 2015

Dear Parents,

Thank you to those who joined us for Grandparents/Grandfriends Day.  Despite the power outage, we had a great turnout, and we appreciate our special visitors making the trip to celebrate with us in Mass and at school.

We practiced bus evacuations this week.  Students had several takeaways, but the most important thing to remember to get off the bus is "me!"  When exiting from the back of the bus, remember to sit and slide.

Today, as a school community, we celebrated International Walk at School Day.  Student Council asked students and staff to think of ways they live or can live a healthy lifestyle, and everyone took a walk around the school building.

Today, the 7th grade presented the Living Rosary to our school.  Each decade of the World Mission Rosary calls to mind an area where the Church continues its evangelizing mission: GREEN for the forests and grasslands of Africa; BLUE for the ocean surrounding the islands of the Pacific; WHITE symbolizing Europe, the seat of the Holy Father who is the first missionary of the Church; RED calling to mind the fire of faith that brought missionaries to the Americas; and YELLOW, the morning light of the East, for Asia.

Thank you to those who have written their names on their pizza circles to help with dismissal.  This is very helpful for teachers and safety patrol, and it helps keep our students safe!

Have a restful three-day weekend!

Sincerely,

Lauren Lewandowski
Principal

Eagle Scout Project by St. Cletus Graduate
"Tyler's Legacy" is an Eagle Scout project developed by 2015 St. Cletus graduate, Michael Fanta.  "I am collecting items of comfort for children fighting cancer, ages 12 to 17, who are the most overlooked when donations come in.  I am collecting NEW ball caps, hats, scarves, and earbuds.  The greatest need is for low denomination gift cards to iTunes, Xbox, PlayStation, and Google Play.
"My best friend, Tyler, died after an epic battle with cancer, and the charity I am collecting the items for often brought things to Tyler.  Tyler had very long hospital stays due to the strong cancer treatments, and he really appreciated what he received to alleviate the boredom of being quarantined in his hospital room.
"All donations go to the Treasure Chest Foundation.  For more information, go to my website at Tyler's Legacy.  Thank you."
Donations may be dropped off at the St. Cletus school office.
