April 22, 2015

Dear Parents,

Well, we had Spring for a few days, but seriously, snow this morning?!!  Ah well, this, too, shall pass!  Thanks to all who came for the State of the School meeting last night.  We appreciate your interest and attention.  Confirmation last Sunday was beautiful, and the rain certainly did not dampen the Holy Spirit as He found His way into the hearts and souls of our young men and women.  Thanks to all the parents and catechists who have guided them on this important journey.

Keep cutting those Labels for Education!  Our school received $1,250 in the last two weeks because of our involvement.  Please see Mrs. Noga's article below and keep those labels coming!

Finally, please take a few moments these next two days to remember Cardinal George and pray for the repose of his soul.  If you are interested in attending his services, please see our parish website for details.  "Eternal rest grant unto him, O' Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him."

Sincerely,

Margaret Hayes

Principal

SCHOOL AND PARISH NEWS

Support Our Annual Fund

The Annual Fund drive will end on June 30.  So far we have raised $27,608.  Our goal is $30,000.  We only need about $2,400 to reach our goal!  No gift is too small.  Please consider making a donation to support our school.  Submit your check (payable to "St. Cletus School") to the school office, or click HERE to pay on-line.  Thank you!

More Spring Auction Opportunities

There is still time to sign up for the Auction Sign-up Parties.  Read this Flyer for Party details.  Please R.S.V.P. to the person(s) listed on the flyer and send in payment to the school office marked "Spring Auction."

Celebrate Mass this Sunday with St. Cletus families!

  See Flyer for details.

Labels for Education Sweepstakes Prize

BIG things are happening with Labels for Education! St. Cletus has won $1,000.00 from the Grand Stand for Schools Sweepstakes!  We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate to enter St. Cletus in this contest.

Also, due to all our wonderful families sending in their labels, we have received a $250.00 Visa gift card, earned from all of our points. This gift card has purchased some new playground equipment (playground balls, basketballs, footballs, double jump ropes, etc.). Thank you, Ms. Pryor, for ordering these-- our students are enjoying them already with the beautiful weather we have been having at lunchtime.

Please keep sending in your labels! There are containers in all the classrooms in addition to the office.  As always, any questions please e-mail Virginia Noga.

Seventh Grade Girls' Track Team Wins!

A big Cardinal "Shout-Out" goes to our amazing Track Team for great overall performances this past weekend.  Our seventh grade girls won First Place overall in the Cardinal Invitational.  The girls dominated the competition by winning (1) First Place in every field event, (2) First Place in both of their relays, and (3) many other top individual finishes in the meet.  Way to come out strong, team Cardinals!

Last Call to Join the School Board

The St. Cletus School Board is committed to the goals of Catholic education and the continued advancement of St. Cletus School.  We welcome all parishioners to be a part of this process by e-mailing your resume to School Board by April 24.

FSA Needs You!

The St. Cletus Family School Association is looking to fill the following positions for the 2015-16 school year: vice president, secretary, and treasurer.  Please e-mail Robin Bourjaily or Nikki Gorman if you are interested.  This is a great way to get involved at St. Cletus, and we would love to have you!

Vacation Bible School

Get ready for an exciting adventure this summer!  VBS is back at St. Cletus.  Join us for "EVEREST," the fun, interactive way to spend your summer vacation!

Our VBS will be held June 15-19, from 9 a.m. until 12:00 noon.  Children who will be in 4-yr.-old pre-school through 3rd grade for the next academic year are welcome to register.

The fee for VBS is $35.00 per child or $60.00 for two children.  Registration forms are available on the Parish Website or in the school office.

Enrollment is limited, so make sure you sign up on April 11 or 12 or as soon as possible!  If you have a child in jr. high or high school, we need volunteers to be teen leaders for VBS!  All teens and adults interested in volunteering should contact the RE Office at (708) 352-2383.

Pass It On Donation Challenge

Beginning April 1, Student Council is encouraging all St. Cletus students, teachers, and families to donate items (clothing and household goods) to Goodwill.  Goodwill is hosting a competition during the month of April.  The school with the greatest number of items donated will receive a visit from Chicago Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp!  Students may bring the items in to school and add them to their classroom's collection box, or the items may be taken directly to your nearest Goodwill location.  If the items are taken directly to Goodwill, simply indicate our school name (St. Cletus), city (La Grange), and number of items donated on the slip provided to you by the Goodwill Donation attendant.

We will collect items at school up until April 30.  Only donations made between April 1 and April 30 will count!  Besides trying to win a visit from a Chicago Blackhawks champion, it's a great way for St. Cletus to support our neighboring communities.  If you have any questions, e-mail Mrs. DoyleMrs. Gridelli,  or Sra. Hanson.  Thank you in advance for all of your help!
