April 16, 2014

Dear Parents,

The Living Stations presented by our 8th graders last Friday was a moving and very spiritual experience.  If you get a chance, please join us Good Friday at 7:00 p.m. for an encore performance.  You will not be disappointed.

I would like to wish you all a blessed Easter and hope you take time to relax during the break.  Hopefully we will be able to enjoy some great weather!

Sincerely,

Margaret M. Hayes

Principal

Golf Outing--Friday, June 27
Mark your calendars for the 13th Annual Cardinal Open Golf Outing on June 27 and check this week's family envelope for details.  We need your help recruiting golfers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers for the event.  Please e-mail Golf Outing if you can help!

Annual Fund

Please keep the St. Cletus School ANNUAL FUND in mind when you make your charitable contributions.

FSA Meeting

We will have our April FSA Meeting tonight, Wednesday, April 16, in Room 213 at 7:00 p.m.  Please join us!

On-line Security

St. Cletus fielded a few questions about on-line security of our tools in relation to Heartbleed, a security vulnerability widely publicized in the media in recent days.  FACTS, TeacherEase, Give Central, and our Manna website all currently pass the Heartbleed security test.  If you have additional concerns, we encourage you to contact any of the companies directly.

FSA Hot Lunch

Thanks to all of our staff and parent lunch volunteers for helping with our Buona Beef lunch day.  Buona Beef is a new vendor, and we are still working some things out, but the overall feedback on the food has been great!  To thank us for our order, Buona has given the school "Buy one meal, get a free kids meal" coupons.  Stop by the office to pick one up--supplies are limited.

Our last FSA-sponsored hot lunch day of the year from Buona Beef is Monday, April 28.  Next year Buona Beef will join in our hot lunch rotation along with our many other loyal vendors.

Easter Egg Hunt & Coloring Contest Results

The Easter Egg Hunt went very well last weekend, and all the kids had a great time.  A big "Congratulations!" goes to the winners of our Easter Egg Coloring Contest!

Pre-K and Kindergarten: Caroline Mhley, Grace Degnan, Jayden Hofsteadter, Delaney Episcopo, and Luke Coclanes.

Grades 1-3: Nina Wasz, Saylor Episcopo, Annaliese Dorchinecz, Tommy Chopp, Maura DeGroot, Jenna Battista, Lauren Schinker, Aaron Johnson, and Moira Finucane

Great job to all participants--Happy Easter!

Seventh Grade Students' Trip to Argonne National Laboratory

On Friday, March 28, the seventh grade class went to Argonne National Laboratory and learned about and worked with spectrophotometers, superconductivity, and an energy bike.  The students had a great time observing liquid nitrogen demonstrations, dividing light in a piece of chalk with spectrometers, and riding an energy bike to see which kind of light bulb uses less energy.

Seventh and Third Grade Students Made Easter Crafts for Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn

The seventh and third grade students gathered together to make four different Easter crafts to give to the children at Advocate Hope Hospital. Illness, hospitalization, and painful medical treatments can be very frightening and confusing for a child. The Child Life Department at Advocate Children's Hospital focuses on the emotional and developmental needs of children and their families.  Their patients love to receive little gifts.  The gifts brighten their days and bring big smiles to their faces.

Are You Ready for Summer Baseball?

The FSA, in conjunction with the St. Cletus Fathers' Club, are sponsoring a day with the Kane County Cougars.  Look for the event flyer in this week's family envelope and save the July 26 date for some fun at the old ballpark.

VBS--Weird Animals, Children Ages 4-9

Hey, Boys and Girls, Moms & Dads--we're back for another year of Vacation Bible School!  Another Great Bible School Adventure Week begins on June 16 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.  This year, we will spend a week discovering that Jesus' Love Is One-Of-A-Kind.  Registration forms are available in the Religious Education Office or CLICK HERE.  For more details or information, please call the Religious Education office at (708) 352-2383 and talk to Mrs. Bolton or Holly.

Office if you are interested in helping.

Attention Parents of All Winter Athletes

Please click HERE to complete a coach evaluation survey for the past winter season.  If your student participated in more than one sport, please fill out the survey twice (e.g., once for volleyball and once for cheerleading).  You do not need to fill it out more than once for head and assistant coaches.  Please list your coaches' names in the spaces provided and use the comment section to write any specific feedback towards a particular coach.  If you would like to complete an entirely separate survey for an assistant coach, that would be fine as well.  You do not have to submit your name on this survey; it can be done anonymously.  The survey will close on Friday, April 18.
