January 29, 2014

Dear Parents,

Wow--this frosty cold just doesn't seem to want to let go, does it?  Thank you for your patience and understanding during our school closings.

Thank you also for braving the weather to attend our Open House on Sunday.  It was an exciting day for me, especially because it gave me a chance to get to know all of you a little bit better.

The remainder of our special week includes dress-down days, including Pajama Day tomorrow for Student Appreciation Day, and Red & White Day, with students wearing their respective team's color for our sensational Red & White Games on Friday.  Can't wait for the games to begin!

Sincerely,

Margaret M. Hayes

Principal

Erin Potts Invitational Volleyball Tournament

We're gearing up to host this fifth annual event, held in Morrissey Hall from Friday, February 7, through Sunday, February 9. Local 7th and 8th grade teams will compete in this action-packed community effort that, again, promises loads of fun as athletes and families support an important cause--cancer awareness.

This year, we're excited to announce "Scatter Kindness," a fund created in memory of Erin Potts through the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Foundation. Going forward, proceeds from the tournament each year, as well as personal donations, will directly support cancer patients at the Adventist Cancer Institute through Patient Experience Programs. For more information about the fund, please visit  Mary's Blog.

Seventh Grade Retreat

Last Thursday, seventh grade students participated in a retreat at Nazareth Academy, led by Nazareth seniors. The theme of the retreat was "You are the Light of the World."  The students had the opportunity to interact with high school students; discuss the proper ways to treat people; play games; donate personal hygiene items for a service project; light candles; and sign a banner which is hanging in our junior high hallway. The students had a great time growing in their faith at Nazareth!
