Nutrition for the Kiddos: How to Get Your Child to Eat (Mostly) Healthy

There are two disclaimers I feel need to be put up front here. One is that I in no way consider myself the authority on raising children (my 16-month-old makes sure of that). The second is I completely recognize kids are going to go through phases where they refuse to eat something they loved yesterday, they only want mac and cheese, they won't eat their veggies, they'll only eat the same one food for every meal, etc. I get it, and I'm open to it. This newsletter is coming from trial and error, my own education on the matter, and a little bit of common sense. CLICK HERE for your trainer girl's recommendations.

Got A Question

Ask and it’ll get answered in this space next newsletter!

This week’s question:

“Do I really need to buy organic produce?
It’s so expensive!”

Luckily, there is a list out there called The Dirty Dozen (go ahead,
Google it, I’ll wait...). The idea behind it is that thick-skinned produce is perfectly fine to eat as-is, meaning you won’t be affected by any possible pesticides because you’ll be removing the thick skin before eating anyway. However there are 12 items you should strongly consider buying organic, and if all else fails do what I do and if it’s just not in your budget to buy organic most months, substitute buying an apple (a Dirty Dozen chart-topper) with buying bananas instead (very low on the pesticide risk-factor scale). Or simply wash your produce very well (another thing I make sure to do when I don’t want to splurge on organic). Here are the 12 items worth spending the money on (if you have it): Apples, celery, strawberries, peaches, spinach, nectarines, grapes, sweet bell peppers, potatoes, blueberries, lettuce, and kale.
