Important IRS tax forms for chapters
|
Forty-four ASDA chapters are part of the ASDA Group Exemption and have "tax exempt" status with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS requires that your chapter submit a Form 990 by May 15 every year. Letters and authorization forms will be sent to the first and second delegates of the 44 participating chapters included in the ASDA group exemption.
- If your chapter has $50,000 or less in annual gross receipts for the 2013 calendar year, submit Form 990-N. ASDA can complete this form for your chapter, as long as you provide written consent by completing the authorization form sent to you this month. The deadline to return your form is April 15, 2014.
- If your chapter has more than $50,000 in annual gross receipts for the 2013 calendar year, your chapter must submit Form 990 or 990-EZ to the IRS. Your chapter is responsible for completing these forms on its own.
These rules apply to all chapters and all exempt organizations whether or not they are part of a group exemption. The group exemption only granted tax-exempt status on a group basis. It does not in any way change the IRS filing requirements for chapters. Questions? Contact Ellen Ryan, accounting manager, at Ellen@ASDAnet.org.

Communications survey to all members - encourage chapter participation
|
ASDA is conducting an important study to find out if we are providing you with timely and relevant communications regarding the issues impacting you. This study will help us fully understand your needs and expectations of ASDA so that we can better serve you. All members will receive an e-mail invitation on Feb. 19 to participate in a survey from Avenue M Group, LLC, an independent market research firm and our partner for this study. Please encourage members at your chapter to complete the survey by March 5. In appreciation for your time, you will have an opportunity at the end of the survey to enter into a drawing to win one of two $150 MasterCard gift certificates.
