Dear VIPs, City Staff and Partners

All hands on deck! Spring and summer are the time when our volunteers come out in full force. Big thank yous go to an impressive fleet of corporate and faith-based partners who helped beautify our parks, nature preserves, and neighborhoods this Spring with projects such as mulching, picking up litter, weeding, planting, yard beautification and painting.

Recognitions also continued this Spring with events at the Senior Recreation Center and our Libraries where we thanked volunteers for anchoring important programs with their many hours of service.

Summer promises to be even busier for college students from SMU, UTD, TCU, Texas A&M, Samford, OSU, and TWU. All of them are learning the ropes as interns in many of our City departments, which include Planning, Parks & Recreation, Human Resources, Libraries, Interurban Railway Museum, Geneology, Police Records, and the Prosecutor's Office.

Not to be outdone, a crew of teens is assisting with clerical duties in various departments; educational programs for fire and police; youth programs in our libraries; legal matters in teen court; and recreation activites and camps through the Parks & Recreation Department.

Thank you to all of our volunteers and supervisors who help keep this ship afloat every day!

Respectfully,

Senior Center VIPs Honored for Going Above and Beyond
Sandi Goldbach, Almetta McQuarters, Pat Johnson, and Marion Parsons were honored for outstanding service at the Senior Center Recognition Event.

Four stellar VIPs were honored at the Senior Recreation Center recognition event for going "Above and Beyond" to serve guests. Each volunteer was praised for sharing her special talents. Goldbach has served as vice-president and member-at-large on the Senior Center Council. Two days a week, McQuarters greets guests when they enter the Senior Center. Pat Johnson runs the Bingo games every Wednesday and Saturday and assists with other activities when needed. Parsons spends several days a week keeping the library in order and enjoys helping the Knitters and Crocheters group complete their projects.
2 Sampaths + 51 Math Tutors = Outstanding Community Partnership
