Holiday Marketing Summary

The Port Townsend Main Street Program commissioned local artist Amanda Kingsley (who is one of the owners of Magpie Alley collectibles store in the Hastings Building) to create original artwork for our "Look Here First" Holiday campaign. We plan to use the art/theme for two years. It is featured on:
--The holiday poster and postcards
--1000 mini-event cards
and 1000 stickers
--2000 "Look Here First" kraft shopping bags for our merchants
--240 limited edition 2015 Port Townsend ornaments
--Advertising, enews, Main Street website, social media
--Participating Merchant store signs
--Main Street e-newsletters featuring "Look Here First" information and holiday events sent Nov. 23, Dec. 1, and Dec. 14. 
 
The artwork is featured on the KWARM FM 106.9 FM website; Enjoy PT Newsletter dedicated their early December e-newsletter to "Ring in the Holidays -Look Here First!"

Fort Worden State Park adapts "Look Here First" to "Book Here First" for their holiday theme.

CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND COLLABORATION
Representatives of the City of Port Townsend Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and the Port Townsend Main Street Promotion Committee held monthly planning meetings starting in June, 2015, to plan and collaborate on the holiday campaign.

The Holiday campaign is featured on 106.9 FM Radio and website. The radio ads will run through the first three weeks of December. The campaign was paid by City of Port Townsend Lodging Tax Funds; the campaign is also included in the
City of Port Townsend Enjoy PT Enews, Enjoypt Facebook/twitter, and Instagram.

Look for holiday posters on the Coho Ferry and in their terminals. 100 posters have been distributed in Victoria. Posters are in all the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Centers.
 
The City of Port Townsend advertised the holiday campaign in the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association (WNPA), consisting of the smaller newspaper and website companies in rural or suburban parts of Washington, with a 2x4 ad in their statewide network with 97 communities covered (a total of 2.7 million readers). These ads ran the week of November 24th.  
 
Total Value of City of Port Townsend Marketing contribution: $3500. Special thanks to Christina Pivarnik and the City of Port Townsend Lodging Tax Advisory Committee partners.

MAKING IT MERRY AND BRIGHT!
Thanks to Main Street Volunteers, Michael's Handyman, City of PT, Jefferson County Public Works, John Gair of the Palace Hotel, Wallyworks, Bill LeMaster of Lehani's & Boiler Room!
  • Procured and decorated community tree with ornaments created by local school children
  • Decorated Haller Fountain and lamp posts
  • Illuminated the Fire Bell Tower in Uptown
  • Four new snowflakes for Jefferson Co. Courthouse Clock Tower
  • Installed 18 three-foot snowflakes on PUD poles
  • Hung snowflake/star decorations on Uptown Buildings
  • Hung six wreaths on city lampposts by ferry dock
  • Electric candles at City Hall & Pope Marine Building
  • City decorated the Cotton Building with white lights
  • Main Street volunteers decorated the City Park Truck "Stage" for Santa's visit & hung twinkle lights on Taylor Street trees.
  • Main Street volunteers decorated Pope Marine Building for Santa's visit
  • Encouraged property owners and City to hang their snowflakes.
