USS Stennis Crew Visits Port Townsend Jan. 12-15  Photo by Richard Probst/Mount Baker Block BuildingThe Navy's super-carrier, USS Stennis (carries 3,200 crew) is visiting this week, and Port Townsend Main Street Program staff has been working with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Christina Pivarnik/City of Port Townsend Marketing, and City of Port Townsend Police Volunteers to help welcome this group to Port Townsend. Some businesses are staying open later and we should see an extra boost at this quieter time of year. Their arrival on Monday 1/12/15 was later than expected, so we anticipate more crew members in town Tuesday-Thursday beginning at approximately 4:30 pm. Jan. 23-24, Strange Brewfest - a celebration of uniquely crafted brews from 30+ breweries and cideries from around our region. Most of the offerings will only be available at this festival. And most of those will challenge your taste buds, and their sensibilities.
Jan. 31, Gong Show v2.0 at Cellar Door! It's time for round two... Bring your best, worst and zaniest acts to be judged by our three local celebrity judges! But beware... This is no open mic, this is no pageant, and this certainly isn't for the easily bruised ego... Prizes for first and second place, and for the worst act of the night!

CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND STREETSCAPE UPDATE: Streetscape work continues in front of the Lewis Building, 638 Water Street and the Franklin Building, 636 Water Street. The trees were removed and now underground power installation and sidewalk work will be completed over the next few weeks. The trees will then be replaced with the same variety that were planted on Taylor Street.
Port Townsend Main Street Program Executive Director Mari Mullen will attend the Main Street Quarterly Manager Meeting and Main Street Advocacy Day in Olympia next week.
The Annual Port Townsend Main Street Board Retreat is January 22. We look forward to welcoming our new board and committee members and mapping out our 30th Anniversary Year!
