Get in the Holiday Spirit! Stroll the Holiday Windows in Port Townsend!
Historic Districts Merchant Window Contest
Dozens of businesses in Port Townsend have designed sparkling windows which celebrate the holiday spirit in imaginative and colorful ways. The theme for The Port Townsend Main Street Program's Holiday Window Contest was
"Ring in the Holidays" and the contest encouraged the use of sleigh bells, wreaths and lights in the displays. Special thanks to our judges and Elizabeth Becker of Seaport Photography.
Abracadabra at 936 Water Street won First Place with a charming winter scene starring sledding animals and stuffed toys tumbling in deep snow. It was designed by staff member Justin Lesser.
Tickled Pink at 825 Water Street won Second Place for its dazzling curtains of silver sleigh bells and a forest of illuminated evergreen trees.
April Fool & Penny Too at 725 Water Street won an Honorable Mention for their luminous display of crimson glass dishes.
PT Shirt Co. at 940 Water Street also won an Honorable Mention for a whimsical holiday window featuring a dancing Santa (wearing a PT T-shirt of course), a skating pond, gifts under the tree and twinkling lights.
Each store received an award sign and a holiday poinsettia. The Port Townsend Main Street Program encourages the public to take a tour of windows Uptown and Downtown. Special thanks to the Main Street Promotion Committee, window judges, Elizabeth Becker/Seaport Photography and to historic district merchants who have created such festive window displays!

Left to right: Garnett Brooks accepts the 2014 Volunteer of the Year award from Paul Rice, Port Townsend Main Street Board Vice-President
|
The 2014 Volunteer of the Year award was given to Garnett Brooks for his dedicated volunteer service at Concerts on the Dock for the past two years. Board Vice-President Paul Rice's comments stated that Garnett is always on time or early, hauls out the tables and chairs, watches out for under-age enthusiasts in the beer garden, cleans up the spills and tucks it all away again with the crew. Garnett also volunteered with the Uptown Street Fair set-up and logistics this year, which was very helpful. "Garnett, we know you've heard it before, but you are a GEM! And you rock!," said Paul Rice. Garnett received a framed certificate of appreciation and a jacket from PT Shirt Company, inscribed with his name and 2014 Volunteer of the Year on it. Thank you Garnett! We would like to thank everyone for a successful 2014 and we look forward to a bright 2015!
