OCTOBER EVENTS:

  
Through Oct.26, The Odyssey & Returning the Bones at Key City Public Theatre. 

  

Oct. 16, The Great Washington Shakeout Drill at 10:16AM. The tsunami sirens will go off for a full three minutes in hopes that will remind people to practice DROP, COVER and HOLD ON in the event of an earthquake. Additional information can be found here where participating individuals can register for this drill if they wish. The site is a good source of additional information for people of all ages.

Oct. 18, It's a Boiler Room Bingo Bash! Support The Boiler Room and WIN PRIZES--cash and merchandise! Doors open at 6 pm (at The Cotton Building), Bingo starts at 7 (possibility of a few early bird games at 6:45, we'll see...). $10 initial buy-in!  
 
Oct. 19, Michael & Vickie Townsend present "Lulu Belle & Skyland Scotty".
 
at Fort Worden State Park. The Olympic Peninsula Tourism Summit gives area businesses an opportunity to learn the trends, factors and forecasts needed to prepare effective marketing and business plans. It also provides an opportunity for tourism-related business people to network, meet face-to-face and discuss industry issues and opportunities.

  

Oct. 24 at 7 pm, KPTZ Fall Fling. Friday night fun! Dance the night away with local band, Floating Otis, at the American Legion. All ages show. Beer and Wine Garden, snacks, plus a silent auction. Tickets are $10 and available at The Food Co-Op, Quimper Sound and at the door. The Fall Fund Drive follows 10/27 to 11/1. Thanks for supporting community radio!
 
 
Oct. 25-26, The Uptown Theatre in partnership with Key City Public Theatre -- presents West Side Story.

Oct. 29 MAIN STREET HUD LOAN DEADLINE for property owners in the historic districts. With these funds, building owners have completed facade improvements, replaced windows, painted exteriors or made public safety improvements to their commercial buildings. Click here for details.

Becoming Witches at Expressions 
Oct. 31, Port Townsend Main Street Program
Downtown Trick or Treat & Costume Parade
This event is for K-6th Graders, accompanied by parents. Gather at Bank of American clock at 3:45 pm. Parade starts at 4pm, followed by trick or treating at many downtown businesses. 
PLEASE NOTE: For public safety, Water Street is closed to traffic from 3:15-5:30 pm.  Thanks to our generous merchants, the Police Volunteers and our Main Street volunteers who help with this very popular event!

A big congrats to Carla Main who won the Girls' Night Out "Gatsby Glitz Raffle" Grand Prize Package! We would like to thank Rick at The Belmont for hosting our "After Party" as well as everyone who contributed to the raffle prize package; The Palace Hotel, The Belmont, Rose Theatre, Glow Natural Skin Care, Soak on the Sound, Soroptimists & Deja View PhotographyThank You to all who came out to celebrate Girls' Night Out & helped raise funds for 
Jefferson County Public Health Dept. Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, and the Port Townsend Main Street Program, a 501c3 nonprofit. The sale of goody bags and raffle tickets raised over $6,000. Special thanks to Jefferson Healthcare, OZONE Socks, 40 participating merchants and our Main Street volunteers.

Connie moved to her new location at 244 Monroe St. earlier this yearGlow offers facials, waxing, brow and lash tinting. In addition, there is a room exclusively for body exfoliation.

We have received alot of feedback about the fact that Port Townsend could use more holiday lights. We are excited about a new crowd-funding campaign to make it merrier in Port Townsend. Make sure to catch the video by Daneau Video Productions. Our goal is to light six public structures downtown and uptown through the Indiegogo campaign--with your help! There are some fun perks too. Thank you!

PT Main Street Program is hard at work planning the Holiday Promotion with community partners-- Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, LTAC, Key City Public Theatre, Olympic Peninsula Steam and the Chamber of Commerce. There will be expanded special events, the Main Street "Santa Shops Here" promotion, and the Kiwanis Choo Choo train on "Sleighbell Saturdays". Check our website soon for more details. Historic District Merchants: have you signed up for the Main Street holiday promotion and ordered your sleighbells?

The Washington Trust is holding its board of directors meeting in Port Townsend this week. Port Townsend Main Street Program Executive Director Mari Mullen has arranged a walking tour for these guests, which includes an inside peak at some of our landmark historic buildings.

Wandering Angus: Celtic Traders has news! They are moving into a larger space formerly occupied by William's Gallery in the historic Mount Baker Block Building. (The Main Street Program is also in the Mount Baker Block so we are lucky to be neighbors!) We look forward to seeing the new store once you are all moved in.
