$10,000 Race to Alaska - Paddle, Row or Sail
Long distance rowers, paddlers and sailors will compete next summer in a first-ever Race to Alaska that offers a $10,000 prize - and no fuel bill. The Northwest Maritime Center has begun accepting applicants for the unique, non-motorized, 750-mile marathon scheduled to begin next June in Port Townsend. The cash prize of $10,000 will go to the first competitor to reach Ketchikan without the aid of an engine, according to Maritime Center executive director Jake Beattie. "It's kind of a Gold Rush thing," Beattie says. If you get there first, you win ten grand." Floating in a sensory deprivation tank increases dopamine production, lowers blood pressure and lowers the stress hormone, cortisol. By doing so, floating significantly reduces the cause of stress related illnesses.
Being in an isolation tank also increases feelings of self-confidence and improves focus and concentration.
Spending time in a float tank helps with acute insomnia, speeds recovery from jet lag and helps with rapid elimination of fatigue.

Since 1989 ~ When preparing your food we use the finest, freshest ingredients available; crafted with our own
hands and created from our hearts. Our philosophy is that in this world of constant change, there need to be places that feel like going home; places to re-charge where you can duck out for a moment, relax, eat a great meal, capture a smile and remember to take in a deep breath. Our aim is and has always been to make the Silverwater one of these places.
We believe in supporting the community in which we live. We appreciate the products that we are able to purchase
locally from all of the wonderful establishments and people in our community.
