NEWS AROUND THE BLOCK!

"First Love" Murals by Cory and Catska Ench

on View at Grant Street Elementary School Library

This spring, the Port Townsend Main Street Program office received a surprising phone call. A local property owner, Toni Veenstra (First American National Bank Building), wanted to donate three murals painted by Cory and Catska Ench to the nonprofit PT Main Street Program.

Cory and Catska Ench are Pacific NW artists and illustrators formerly of Port Townsend.

Principal Mary Sepler suggested the Children's Library at Grant Street Elementary School, and they have been installed there now. "Having art like this in your library enriches your experience, and the maritime theme reflects Port Townsend perfectly," according to Ms. Sepler. The artwork is now on a long-term loan to the Port Townsend School District thanks to The Port Townsend Main Street Program and the generosity of Toni Veenstra. Grant Street's Summer Reading Program is going on now every Wednesday through August 13 from 10 am-4 pm.
