~MERCHANT SPOTLIGHT~
Meet Sue Arthur, owner of Maricee Fashions - located at 913 Water Street. Sue opened the store in 1982 after being a stay-at- home Mom with her two daughters for five years. "I was feeling like I wanted to do something different. I had been an executive and legal secretary prior to having children. My friend Shirley Rudolph was a real estate agent in town and was selling Dolly's Boutique so I decided that would be a fun business." After two years, Sue purchased the children's store next door, The Red Desk, and knocked the wall out between the stores. "I carried kids' clothes along with women's clothing. My girls loved that! Then sweatshirts became popular and I carried every kind of sweatshirt imaginable! Now I carry all women's clothing and accessories mostly made in Canada and the United States. My customers appreciate the quality and style," says Sue; "Thirty two years have gone by very quickly and I especially appreciate my long-time employee and friend, Jean Schoessler, for being with me all these years."
Sue is also the chair of the Main Street Promotion Committee and actively involved in The Port Townsend Kiwanis Club. Thanks for all you do, Sue!
