"Wire Sculpting" inspired by our seaport surroundings taught by teaching artist Margie McDonald, 5pm-7:30pm. The evening will include gourmet pizza, cheese and wine. Cost for the workshop is $45; this is a 21+ workshop as wine will be served. Originally from Newfoundland, Margie McDonald has won international recognition for her riveting artwork created in wire. Her work has been exhibited around the world--from Port Townsend to New Zealand.
Other Ways to Support Arts Education in the month of May:
- May 3rd is Gallery Walk. Check out Scrabble in Babel; two independently-produced short plays by Michael Grady will take place at 118 Taylor St. in the Hastings Building from 6-8 pm. Donations welcome.
- New this year, "Art Wave" Donation Jars will be at select retailers collecting money throughout the month.
Proceeds from these activities benefit the Arts Education Programs in the Port Townsend School District. The funds raised will help supports diverse offerings by PT Artscape including the Teaching Artists Programs in Grant Street School, Blue Heron Middle School, Port Townsend High School, and professional development for teaching artists and classroom teachers. PT Artscape also supports Centrum's Tales, Texts and Theater Program for the sixth grade, as well as special projects and materials.
PT Artscape's Mission: To ensure young people have access to creative experiences through public education.
