EQUESTRIAN PARADE
Saturday, March 22 at 10:30 am
Watch a parade of horses travel down Water Street with military flair. The "cavalry" will be staged from Washington Street, proceed down Taylor Street and turn left on Water Street to ride towards City Hall. Port Townsend Police and Volunteers will assist with a "rolling street closure" which means vehicles will stay in place while the parade takes place--approximately 30 minutes. This is to maximize public safety for spectators and parade participants, and to minimize the impact to businesses.

Port Townsend Victorian Festival
Here Comes the Cavalry and the Big Guns
"Forts on the Frontier"
March 21-23, 2014
When thinking of Port Townsend's early days images of shipping and lumber, rough streets and genteel houses spring to mind, but the U.S. Army established Fort Townsend in 1856. The 18th Victorian Festival looks at how the military shaped culture during those volatile decades of expansion, civil war, and economic tumult.
Kick off Friday night with our Victorian Pub Crawl - featuring saloons, "shanghai tunnels," and fine vintage cocktails through a staggering selection of Port Townsends (in)famous watering holes.
Saturday looks back to Port Townsend's military roots at Fort Townsend and Fort Worden. Watch cavalry drills and demonstrations along side old favorites like the fashion show, steam boat rides, prize fighters and Victorian teas.
Sunday, March 23, we look forward to offering a series of "Insider's Historic Building Tours" coordinated by The Port Townsend Main Street Program.
The Victorian Heritage Festival is organized by Olympic
Townsend's unique role as an exquisitely preserved historical seaport surviving and thriving as a modern city.
