April 4, Jefferson County Historical Society First Friday Lecture by Jessica Plumb, producer and chief editor of "Return of the River". In the City Council Chambers of historic City Hall, 540 Water Street, 7 pm.
April 5, Port Townsend Farmers Market opens for the season! The "best big little market in WA" is back. Uptown Port Townsend. Goat parade, fiddle tunes and over 50 vendors. And tulips too! Come on out.

Also April 5, Gallery Walk! Take a stroll around Port Townsend and enjoy all the galleries. A special Happy Anniversary to Gallery 9, celebrating 10 years! Gallery 9 is a co-op of local artists and has nurtured a wide variety of artists over the years - painters, woodworkers, jewelers, potters, photographers, sculptors, kayak, basket and drum makers and glass artists. Featured in April are two of the original members- Sandra Smith-Poling, water-colorist, and Mitch Poling, baidarka/kayak maker. Everyone is welcome to join in the celebration, there will be a drawing for art pieces and refreshments!

April 5, Please welcome Achtuning Car Club for their annual "Cruise Port Townsend!" Approximately 300 European car enthusiasts are expected in this cruise which arrives around 12 noon--in time for shopping and dining out in Port Townsend! They are working with the Port Townsend Police and will park along Washington and Madison Streets near Memorial Field. Welcome signsavailable on the Main Street website.
April 16, Welcome back American Cruise Lines! The cruise ship will dock at Union Wharf on Wednesdays and depart early Friday mornings. See the schedule for Visiting Groups on the Port Townsend Main Street website here. Merchants: Please download a welcome sign here.
April 17 - May 10, Key City Public Theatre presents King Lear. A 21st-century take on one of the great tragedies of all time, a tenuous tapestry woven from the delicate threads of hubris and frailty, blindness and sight, loyalty and love.

April 19 - PT Main Street Earth Day Spring Clean-Up. Got a green thumb? Volunteers are invited to meet at Adams Street Park (Water & Adams) from 9am - 12pm to join in a project. Enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise and help beautify our town. The Boiler Room is helping with clean up that day. Contact the Main Street office at 385-7911 or email us at admin@ptmainstreet.org if you would like to volunteer. Bring work gloves and hand tools.
Main Street is also working with Labor Leaders on a painting project at Tyler Street stairs in conjunction with Earth Day. Hope to see you there!
April 19 is Record Store Day! Stop in at Washington State's oldest record store, right here in Port Townsend! Quimper Sound is serving up specials for the big day. Quimper Sound is now located in the Undertown of the Mount Baker Baker Block Building, and owner Mark Hering invites you to come see the new space and check out the Record Store Day fun!

Meet Don Tiller -

Don invites you to his loft studio and gallery located at 1032 Water St., Ste. 5. He is best known as a contemporary acrylic landscape artist, and you will realize quickly his cityscapes and seascapes benefit from his distinct style and are just as bold and colorful. Don paints in all sizes and price ranges. Greeting cards, and the second printing of his coffee table book are also available.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program is seeking original poster art to illustrate the 2014 "Concerts on the Dock" poster. We request that original art submissions be submitted on 11" x 17" paper in person to the Main Street office at 211 Taylor St., Suite 3, OR camera ready graphic design submissions (must be at 300 dpi or higher in the same dimensions), be submitted electronically in PDF form by May 15th to admin@ptmainstreet.org.

Over 100 guests attended the first Main Street Quarterly Port Townsend Pub Crawl on St. Paddy's Day--it was a fun night filled with Irish music, corned beef, bar games, and drink/appetizer specials at 8 locales. Thanks to our venues, Adam Mullet (artwork!), our Main Street volunteers, Utopian Tours, Peninsula Taxi, Designated Drivers and all who came. The next one is scheduled for June 23, 2014!
Victorian Festival March 21-23
Thanks to all who came for a good old time at The Victorian Festival March 21-23--it was a real success! Congratulations to Olympic Peninsula Steam, Nathan Barnett and Cindy Madsen and the excellent presenters and volunteers! Special thanks to the City of Port Townsend Police Volunteers.
Thank you also to the 90+ people who came on the sold out Main Street "Insider's Historic Building Tours" with us...and to our generous property owners/managers who shared their stories with us. It was interesting to see the buildings bottom to top, and we even rang the bell at the Bell Tower! Tour leaders included Bill Tennent of The Jefferson Co. KPTZ SPRING FUND DRIVE FEATURES NEW COMMUNITY CARD OFFER
KPTZ 91.9 FM's Spring Pledge Drive is set for April 16 through April 19, 2014 and there is a new benefit for contributing to the nonprofit Port Townsend radio station. Guess who has a dinosaur in the family?
Maricee Fashions owner Sue Arthur! Sue's cousin, Kathy Wankel of Montana, discovered bones from what is now one of the most complete T-Rex skeletons ever discovered while she was hiking near the Fort Peck Reservoir in 1988. The Wankel Tyrannosaurus rex is now leaving Montana to become the centerpiece of a future 31,000 sq. ft. fossil hall at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Sue (also from Montana) and her family are invited to the reception to welcome "The Nation's T. rex" at the Smithsonian April 16. Now that's something to roar about!

It's time to plan ahead for the spring sailing schedule and upcoming fare changes. The spring sailing schedule begins Sunday, April 6, and annual peak-season fare surcharges and new fare increases go into effect May 1. Changes to the spring sailing schedule include:
· Four mid-afternoon sailings on the Port Townsend/Coupeville route will leave 15 minutes earlier to better match the schedule of the second ferry, which joins the route on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11.
· The last sailing from Coupeville leaves 5 minutes earlier at 9:10 p.m.
