Greetings! Greetings in the name of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ! On behalf of the facilitators of the C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis (George Anderson, Sig Berg, John Bishop, Jim Hiskey, and Jim Phillips), I offer you this edition of the CSLI Annapolis Newsletter.
Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute:
The C.S. Lewis Institute was founded in 1976 in the legacy of its namesake as an organization which endeavors to challenge, educate, and disciple those who will, like Lewis, articulate, defend, and live faith in Christ through personal and public life. The Institute's vision complements the work of the Church, equipping thoughtful believers to impact their sphere of influence for Jesus Christ. This discipleship of heart and mind takes place by means of teaching, readings, and mentoring.
Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis: The Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis is to extend the mission of the C.S. Lewis Institute to the Annapolis community, with a special passion for the students and faculty of Saint John's College and the U.S. Naval Academy. Ours is to disciple the people the Lord brings to us and connect them to each other so that they can lead the Church, the State, and the nations. Support for C.S. We had a great March with Year 1 and Year 2 Fellows meetings, SJC men and women's fellowships, and much planning for April which has the following highlights:
April 5-7: Daniel & Sherene Khouri (Ravi Zacharias International Ministries - Middle East) will be in Annapolis to do several events with our Fellows and SJC students. They are from Syria and will be sharing their experiences with sharing Jesus with Muslims and the current situation in Syria. They have recently come from Damascus, Syria.
April 11: 7pm will be the Annual CSLI Banquet at the Fairview Park Marriott and our speaker will be Dr. James Kim, President and founder of two universities: Yanbian University of Science and Technology in Yanji, China, and Pyongyang University of Science and Technology in Pyongyang, North Korea. Dr. Kim will speak of his incredible life testimony and bringing the gospel to young people at these two universities. You can register at our website.
April 30: All Year 1 applications are due for the Fellows program that begins June 1, 2013. More information and application can be found at:
Amy's Collegiate News:
Exciting things are happening at St. John's this month of April! Pray for the seniors as they continue in presenting and defending their papers to a trio of tutors. Our men's and women's weekly fellowships continue as usual, and we are especially looking forward to planning a women's retreat towards the end of the month! We are also hoping to get together with some of the midshipmen later in the month for a meal. Some of us are starting a book discussion on a classic work of C.S. Lewis in two weeks time, on campus, so prayers for that would be appreciated!
This Saturday, April 6th is going to be awesome with Daniel and Sherene Khouri on campus to discuss Syria and the situation in the Middle East. We are also planning a SJC seniors and alum welcome back dinner at the Aslan House on Friday, April 19th from 5:00-7:00pm (Croquet weekend), so save that date if you are an alum! Please continue to pray for SJC, for more opportunities for conversational apologetics, and that God's Truth would prevail!
Thank you for your prayers and support of CSLI Annapolis.
