 Racine hosts The Big Chill Ice and Snow Festival, Friday through Sunday, Jan. 8-10. It includes the Wisconsin State Snow Sculpting Championship in which three-person teams create amazing sculptures from 5,000-pound blocks of snow. The winning team receives a cash prize and will represent the state in the 2017 National Snow Sculpting Competition. The weekend also features AGA Nation's Downtown Rail Jam presented by Real Racine. Snowboarders and skiers will perform tricks and stunts for cash and prizes from a portable two-story ramp. It all takes place at Monument Square in Downtown Racine. Free spectator admission.

 The winter season welcomes a shift in outdoor recreation enthusiasts, and in Sheboygan we welcome surfers. Centrally located on the shore of Lake Michigan, Sheboygan juts out five miles into the lake, sculpting incredible waves when the wind picks up, attracting surfers from all over the world. Water temperatures of 33 degrees, sub-zero wind chills and moving ice floes create winter adventure. Whether you are here to surf or not, make sure to take a trip to the lakefront and be part of the action!
