This time of year is Wisconsin's time to shine! All along the Lake Michigan shoreline the beaches are coming to life, festivals are in full force, farmer's markets are abundant in fresh goods, and fisherman and sailors alike are taking advantage of the weather.

It is also a time to celebrate the birth of our country! If you've never seen fireworks over Lake Michigan, this is your chance. Each one of our Wisconsin Harbor Towns has their own, unique way of celebrating Independence Day, and each one of them will be an experience you won't want to miss.

So pack up the cars and campers, and head to the coast of Wisconsin, where you will be welcomed with open arms... and perhaps a brat(wurst).

Sincerely,
Wisconsin Harbor Towns Association
BAYFIELD
Wisconsin's Berry Capital
The unique climate of the Bayfield Peninsula creates near perfect conditions for an astounding variety of berries. Beginning with strawberries in late June, followed by blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, fruit aficionados will also be delighted to find sweet and tart cherries, currants, juneberries and gooseberries among the seasonal harvest. Weekly berry updates are available on bayfield.org.

But we've got more than just berries! Two wineries, 14 orchards, fruit and vegetable farms ring the city and grow some of the finest fresh produce in Wisconsin. Tour them and pick your own bountiful harvest! Download the Bayfield Farm and Orchard Map.

SHEBOYGAN

Be part of the fun!

Among the many things to explore in Sheboygan in the summer, we know how to do it right on Independence Day. We start with our annual Venetian Boat Parade and live music on the riverfront the evening of July 3rd, followed by a fun-filled 4th with music, food, activities and beach bumming. Then at dusk, a display like no other, fireworks soar over Lake Michigan and explode into awesome displays seen up and down the Sheboygan Lakeshore. The Harbor Centre Trolley is available throughout the day for transportation between Downtown, South Pier, Riverfront and Deland Park! View more details of Sheboygan's Independence Day celebrations here.

Also in July is the John Michael Kohler Arts Center Midsummer Festival of the Arts,  a weekend-long celebration of all the arts and artists both local and non, as well as Miesfeld's Lakeshore Weekend on Sheboygan's South Pier, with food, games, live music and dragon boat races, all benefiting the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Sheboygan is full of life this summer so make sure you're part of it!

STURGEON BAY

All the reasons, All the seasons!

In summer, Sturgeon Bay's landscape comes alive with the brilliant green of trees that envelope the state parks. It is the best time to enjoy our lovely sandy beaches, go fishing, try sailing, or stand up paddleboards and kayaks,

or rent a pontoon boat or jet skis all of which dot the waters of our beautiful bay, lake and canal that beg you to play! You cannot miss the beautiful pelicans and seagulls flying above the sparkling waters and the children laughing on the playgrounds. Sturgeon Bay, Door County was recently named Best Bass Fishing Lake in America by Bassmaster Magazine. If you love to fish, you will love it here! You can watch the sunrise over Lake Michigan and watch it set over the Bay of Green Bay!

Enjoy the character of Sturgeon Bay by strolling our streets lined with unique specialty shops, boutiques, galleries and shops. Don't forget to experience some of our rich cultural history by exploring our great maritime and historical museum, art galleries, playhouses and lighthouses.

WASHBURN

The water is perfect!

The water is perfect for the 2nd paddling of the Washburn Board Across the Bay (WBAB) on July 26.  This is a 7 or 14-mile Stand Up Paddleboard race between Ashland and Washburn as a celebration of Washburn's legendary surfing son, Tom Blake.

Along with the WBAB is our annual Brownstone Summerfest.  There's the antique car show with a street dance, bike race, and golf scramble overlooking the Bay.   Vendors, inflatables for kids of all ages, topped off by fireworks adds to the fun.  So come on July 24-27 and get your feet wet!

Upcoming fall events include Biketember ColorRides (September), a celebration of Pumpkins and Cider(Oct 4), and our Zombie Days 5K, Parade and Boogie Up the Hill and other "seasonal" surprises (Oct. 25).

Along Washburn's waterfront lies the Washburn Municipal Marina, a full service 139 slip recreational boat marina convenient to the community's business district.
