JANUARY| 2014
Greetings!

The New Year's resolution of the Wisconsin Harbor Towns Association is to make sure that your visits to any of our cities along the Great Lakes shoreline are unforgettable! Each place has something special to offer during the winter season. Ski and snowmobile the trails, take part in winter festivals and ice carvings, skate and play hockey on rinks both indoor and out, ride the surf (wear your wet suit please), and discover some of our favorite places to warm up!

Wisconsin is a perfect place for a wintery getaway and we hope that you think of all our Harbor Towns when planning your new year!

Sincerely,
Wisconsin Harbor Towns Association
RACINE
Return of the Big Chill
The Big Chill returns to Downtown Racine's Monument Square, Friday through Sunday, Jan. 10-12.  The state's top, two-person teams will complete in the 24th Annual Wisconsin State Snow Sculpting Championship. Nearly 30,000 cubic feet of snow will be compacted into blocks 6'x6'x8'. Come and watch the snow fly as these artists transform these mammoth blocks of snow into original masterpieces. Skilled ice carvers will also create frozen works of art along Main and Sixth streets. Visitors are invited to vote on their favorite sculptures. The winners will be announced on Sunday afternoon.

SHEBOYGAN

Surf's Up!
Winter is prime surfing time in Sheboygan; the wind is bleak, the waves are big and the water is cold. It's a real "feather in your hat" taking on the surf in Sheboygan, and people come from all over; it is how we are proudly deemed "Freshwater Surf Capital of the World."
On top of our snow-celebrating festivals, Sheboygan's biking and hiking trails have been turned into cross country ski, snowshoe and snowmobile trails. Sheboygan also has Blue Line Ice Center indoor rink and, if it's cold enough, an outdoor rink along the riverfront, to go skating with your sweetheart.

SUPERIOR

Cure your cabin fever on Superior's south shore

Winter on the western tip of Lake Superior is serene, and whether you cross-country ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, or would rather spend time indoors - Superior is a great winter getaway. Get cozy in one of our many hotels or inns, or venture inland for some outdoor fun at Amnicon Falls or Pattison State Park. There are plenty of things to see and do in Superior in the wintertime.

Don't miss the Great Lakes Classic Pond Hockey Tournament on January 24-26, our annual old time, outdoor four-on-four hockey tournament, ice racing on Allouez Bay, or the Lake Nebagamon Fisharama!
