June, 2014
School is finishing up and summer is just around the corner.

This is often a hectic period with packing kids for camp, end-of-year recitals and celebrations, and vacation planning for summer.

Staying organized and creating checklists when possible will reduce your stress during this time!

Sincerely,
Sharon F. Danzger

Kids:  Name Tag Options

As camp approaches, it's time to start thinking about how to best put your child's name on his/her belongings.

Here are some options:

1.  Sew-in Label - While this is the most labor intensive option, it is also the most secure.  For valuable items that you want to insure will get back to you - use a sew-in label.

2.  Iron-on Label - These are an easier alternative to sew-in labels but beware - if not done properly, these labels will fall out.  Read the directions carefully and be sure to hold the iron on for the full amount of time.

3.  Stamper - Although this is a more expensive choice, it is probably the least labor intensive.

4.  Permanent Marker - A Sharpie marker is very useful for a quick naming or for socks which may be uncomfortable with a label.

5.  Permanent Labels - These are expensive stickers but they stay on even under harsh conditions.

Camp Lost and Found boxes are always full.   At day camp, kids may wear a sweatshirt to camp on a chilly morning and forget about it on the 90 degree bus ride home.  At sleep-away camp, clothes land in all sorts of strange places.  Make it easy for your clothes to find their way home by labeling everything!

Time:  Progress Not Perfection

Trying for perfection can lead to paralysis and a lack of progress.

For example, when going through toys a child has outgrown, it is our tendency to want to get each item to the ideal person that can use and appreciate it.

We often forget that there is a lot of time involved in doing this.  While it might not be perfect, giving all of the items to one person or organization enables you to make great progress and is a far less daunting task.

The same holds true for clothing, sports equipment, and other households items.

Aiming for progress and not perfection will enable you to have greater results!
Home & Office: No "Shoulds"

We often hold on to clutter in our lives because we feel we "should."

Books?  We should read them.

Gifts?  We should keep them.

Magazines?  We should

get through them.
Clothes? We should fit into them.

The "shoulds" are unproductive and create guilt, clutter and un-happiness.  If you don't use it, get through it, love it, or need it, simply let it go.
