Kids: Packing Checklists
Winter is a popular time to travel with the family. Are you tired of packing for everyone?
Help your kids create their own packing checklists.
Here's how: 1. Ask your child to make a list of everything they think they will need for vacation. 2. Review the list with them and make sure it is complete. 3. Create a spreadsheet with a check-off column for items that have been packed. 4. Checklists can be modified and saved for cold vs. warm weather vacations
Checklists are a useful tool for recurring activities. Investing the time to create a packing checklist for vacation makes future trips easier.

Time: Estimating Time
The Planning Fallacy was originally introduced in 1979 by Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky.
They noted that humans are particularly bad at estimating the time it takes to complete a task.
What can we do to improve?
1. Past Experience
Consider how much time the task took before.
2. Break It Down
Rather than estimate the time to do a large job,
estimate small increments and then combine.
3. Expect The Unexpected
Assume something will go awry and build in extra time.
Manage the expectations of others by promising less and delivering more. Coming in ahead of schedule doesn't usually get you in trouble.
