Kids: "Walk" instead of "Don't Run"
Thanks to Susan Liebeskind for this great tip:
"One of the things I learned that has been really helpful is to say "Remember!" instead of saying "Don't forget." When a person reads or hears something, he/she often only retains the end, so you are actually telling your kids to "blah blah blah FORGET" So say Walk, instead of Don't Run, and Speak Softly instead of Don't Yell... " Thanks, Susan, for that great advice! |

Time: Why Resolutions Go Off Track
According to NY Times best-selling author, Tom Connellan, 25% of us abandon our New Year's resolutions by the end of the first week!
Here is a summary of Connelan's three reasons why we fail to follow through on our resolutions:
1. We don't act until we feel motivated.
Just start!
2. We only think big.
Take and acknowledge the small steps that lead to your ultimate goal.
3. Even positive change is uncomfortable.
It takes 21 days to change a habit.
Give your new routine time to settle in.
Falling short of your goal doesn't mean you have failed. Recognize small achievements in your efforts to fulfill your resolutions!
