ISHA Offers National Certification in Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry
February 2015

Greetings!

Valentine's Day is now seen as an expression of romantic love. Historically, it is thought to be  related to St. Valentine, a priest, of the 3rd century. He reportedly wrote a letter to the jailer's daughter [possibly he healed her] and signed it "From your Valentine".  (However, there are 3 different Valentines in church history). In the 5th century it was assigned February 15th in an attempt to change a pagan celebration to a Christian one. Be this true about St. Valentine, the original act was one of healing. We, who do the heart centered work of HTSM, experience the love God has for his children. Following Jesus' example, we express that love by bringing healing to His suffering people.

This can be a time to remember: We love because He first loved us. Show people you love them by sharing this heart centered ministry. This is also the time of the Transfiguration of Christ. A time scriptures are full of 'Light' and how Jesus was the embodiment of God's Light. We are also called to embody this Light-this Love of God-and reflect it to all around us-spreading it in the world.

Our time has come-let God's Light shine in you!

Claramae Webber Announces Her Retirement

Claramae Webber is honored as ISHA's first Instructor Emeritus after announcing her retirement this year. From the earliest days of HTSM, Claramae has been delighting students across the US and also in Trinidad. Many of you have experienced her great wisdom in either HTSM or CCA classes.

For the instructors and staff she has been a friend, a mentor and an outspoken supporter of the program. We look forward to hearing about her next adventures. She is shown here, at the 2015 Staff Meeting in Tennessee, enjoying her "retirement quilt".

She promises to continue to be our cheerleader and Elder adviser!

Retreat at Blue Mountain Inn-Sevierville, TN in January!
Christine Schiltz, Iowa

From the beginning of the retreat at Blue Mountain Mist Inn, there was reflection, journaling, deep discussion and questions laughter, tears, healing, and time to relax. Linda Sharp opened the Unplug and Recharge retreat by giving us the opportunity to unplug  from all that is going on in our lives in a serene, environmental setting. Being able to set aside all that is going on in our lives even just for a few days gave us a burst of energy we do not otherwise experience in our daily lives. Retreating away from our usual environment, unplugging and reflecting on matters gave us a different perspective on problems. issues, and matters of concern. The unplugging began on Thursday evening as everyone returned to their rooms for the night.

The weather was conducive to spending time outdoors. The warmth of the sun poured down on the swing on the front porch which swung so gently back and forth. Those of us who wanted left the Inn to travel to the local rock store and selected rocks for our own use. I especially appreciate the time to be away, to visit with other practitioners whom I have met on my journey to becoming a practitioner and to be with instructors who were also on the retreat. Our discussions were sometimes serious and yet informational as we learned from each other.

Getting out of my head and into my heart was the most important lesson I took away from the retreat as I recharged.

Thank you Linda Sharp

Why Do the Chakra Connection
Sharon Harris, Minnesota (from 2015 203 class)

Sleep issues are found among many of us.  Will doing the self chakra connection before bedtime improve our sleep?  My research project involved using the self chakra connection before bedtime and recording my sleep patterns:  the number of times awakened and the length of these times.  This project included two weeks without the self chakra connection, three weeks with the self chakra connection, and two weeks without the self chakra connection.

The results showed a definite improvement in my sleep patterns.  The average awakenings per night decreased from 8.14  in the first two weeks without the self chakra connection to 3.76 per night in the weeks using it.  The average hours awake per night had a smaller decrease from 1.4 to 1.2 hours per night with the self chakra connection.  I found myself sleeping for longer periods of time without waking by the third week and the persistent pain in my right hip had completely disappeared by the second week in the self chakra connection period. I also remembered significant dreams during this period.  These gains were gradually lost during the last two week period without the self chakra connection.

Why do the self chakra connection?  How important is your overall health and energy?  Restful sleep is vital to our work as it provides the restorative processes we all need.  Give it a try and let me know how it changed your sleep.  Happy dreaming!

How Blessed I feel to be a part of ISHA and the Foundation.. as we have a wonderful opportunity to bring to the world this heart centered work. Just how blessed are we?!?!

What is even more exciting is realizing this is truly one of my dreams coming true...fulfilling one of my life purposes. To be a part of something with Vision and Integrity...what a Blessing!!! Kareem Abdul Jabbar said, "One man can be a crucial ingredient on a team, but one man cannot make a team." You see, everyone is so very important to this team and how blessed we all are to be a part of something so important.

Now, how can we help others to be a part of this????

Blessings and Happy Valentine's,

Linda Sharp
