GERMANY ( NORTHERN AND NORTHWESTERN STATES) - Hazardous driving conditions and significant delays to public transport services, including busses, trams and trains, have been reported in several northern states in Germany, including Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg, due to heavy snowfall on 6 January. Berlin is among the worst affected cities, where hundreds of traffic accidents have been reported as well as a low number of flight cancellations at Berlin Schonefeld and Berlin Tegel airports. The ongoing inclement weather may further compromise road travel and public transport operations in the coming hours, while snowfall and icy road conditions have the potential to result in hazardous driving conditions. In addition, further disruptions to flight schedules, including cancellations and significant delays should be anticipated. It should also be noted that disruptions to utilities such as water and heating are possible.

Clients in affected areas of Germany, particularly those planning to transit airports in Berlin, are advised to make allowances for travel disruptions and should consult their travel provider for an update on the status of their travel arrangements.
