SOUTHWEST AIRLINES -  Significant disruptions to Southwest Airlines flights have been reported in the United States on 11 October due to a technical fault with the lost-cost carrier's national ticketing system.  According to reports, as many as 450 scheduled flights have been delayed as a result of the technical issues. Passengers now have to be checked-in manually by airport staff, causing significant queues at local airports. The airline has requested that travelers arrive at least two-hours prior to their scheduled departure in order to mitigate delays caused by the system failure, as well as the resultant queues at airports.  Efforts are currently underway to restore access to the system; further days should be anticipated once the technical fault has been resolved due to the backlog of flights.

Travelers scheduled to fly with Southwest Airlines in the near-term are advised to contact the airlines or their travel provider to confirm the status of their flight(s).

We are closely monitoring this situation and reaching out to our traveler managers / travelers who may be affected by the disruption.
