MULTIPLE COUNTRIES - Tropical Storm Joaquin, currently a Category 4 storm, is impacting on Bermuda and eastern parts of the United States. Local authorities have issued a number of adverse weather warnings for coastal surges and significant rainfall in both countries. Significantly, the US has also issued a state of emergency in North Carolina, ahead of what is expected to be widespread flooding. TS Joaquin caused widespread flooding in parts of the Bahamas, particularly in Long Island and Acklins, while several power outages were also reported. Heavy rainfall and associated flooding in low-lying areas as well as landslides in elevated regions should be expected in the affected areas over the near-term. Strong winds and coastal storm surges may also disrupt power supply and result in coastal flooding, respectively. Disruptions to air, road and maritime travel should be expected in places.

Persons in the affected area should monitor local media in their area of travel for updates and advisories from the local authorities. The storm's progress can also be tracked online (http://www.tropicalstormrisk.com/). Travelers, particularly those in the eastern Caribbean, should confirm the status of all transport services with their travel provider or the relevant transport authority prior to departure.
