LAS VEGAS (United States) - Authorities at the McCarran International Airport, in Las Vegas, have closed one runway after a British Airways flight caught fire on the runway on 8 September; at least two people have been reported injured. Moderate delays have been reported to flights scheduled to utilise the runway; however, the airport's three remaining runways are operating normally. Emergency services personnel are working to extinguish the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown.

Airport operations are expected to resume once initial investigations and salvage operations have been concluded. It is unclear when the runway is expected to be reopened. Once operations resume delays are likely while the backlog of flights is cleared.

Clients intending to make use of McCarran International Airport in the short-term are advised to contact the airport, their airline or their travel provider for further information on the status of their flight(s).
