VAM Partners with Governor's Mansion to plan Time Travelers: Historic Homes Edition, Promote Year of the Virginia Historic Home
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - January 24, 2013 -  The Virginia Association of Museums (VAM) has partnered with the Executive Mansion and the Governor's Office to promote 2013 as the Year of the Virginia Historic Home and the Virginia Time Travelers: Historic Homes Edition.

2013 is the bicentennial of the Executive Mansion, and to commemorate the anniversary and to draw attention to all of Virginia's historic homes, the Governor designated 2013 as the Year of the Virginia Historic Home in a proclamation on September 25, 2012. Just last month, the Year of the Historic Home website was launched.

In addition to commemorating the Executive Mansion's bicentennial, the Year of the Virginia Historic Home will highlight historic homes throughout the Commonwealth through a revitalized Virginia Time Travelers: Historic Homes Edition. VAM is partnering with the Governor's office and has assisted in the program planning and outreach.

Historic house museums across Virginia are encouraged to join in the Virginia Time Travelers: Historic Homes Edition program by contacting Audrey Trussell at the Governor's Office. Your museum's photo and information will be loaded onto the Year of the Virginia Historic Home website where visitors can access information about all historic house museums participating in the program. Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
