For all those affected by the devastating winter storm throughout Georgia and the Deep South, I hope you are reading this from the safety and comfort of your home. It's experiences like this that can quickly put our priorities and challenges in perspective.

"Don't die with your music still inside you."
~Wayne Dyer~
For many years, Bronnie Ware provided palliative care for patients who had gone home to die. In her book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, she shares their insights on living a life free of regrets.
Her patients often regretted that they:
- Didn't have the courage to live a life true to themselves, instead of what others expected of them.
- Worked so hard that they missed out on key family moments.
- Didn't express their true feelings, just to "keep the peace."
- Didn't stay in touch with friends.
- Didn't let themselves be happier by choosing to be happy.

When I posted this on my personal Facebook page, many people responded, including my friend Jacqueline Allison. I had always admired that this accomplished corporate executive assistant followed her dream and pursued her passions as a mixed media artist. Her vibrant abstract paintings grace the walls of top galleries and public spaces.
"I started affirming myself as a professional artist and 'saw' my paintings in galleries before they were there," she told me. "I took action and asked for help, trying not to take rejection personally, and trusting in the timing and the process."
A few years later, Jacqueline faced a major health challenge. "Everything becomes crystal clear when you're reminded how precious our lives and our time are," she recalled. "As I went through my treatment, I visualized the drugs helping and healing my body and focused on how grateful I was for the good in my life. I started looking at everything differently, de-cluttering my life of things and people and obligations that didn't bring me joy." She and her husband bought a cabin in the North Georgia mountains where they retreat to on most weekends. "When we're there enjoying nature and each other, life is so much simpler and peaceful."
Her marriage and relationships with family and close friends have grown richer. "I even reduced the number of Facebook friends I keep up with, preferring quality over quantity. I choose to do things because I want to, not because I think I should do them."
Jacqueline recently donated one of her paintings to Emory Hospital, in honor of her doctors. "While I wish I hadn't gone through this, I do appreciate all the unexpected blessings that have come with this journey--including inspiring others to live their lives without regrets."
What possible regret are you crossing off your list? Share it on my Facebook Page or reply back to me. I love hearing from you!
