International volunteers are the heart of PBI's work. Volunteers in the field act as our witnesses, voices, and peacekeepers. They deter violence against human rights defenders, advocate with our diplomats and government, and show the world that there are folks in the U.S. and globally, like you and me, who are watching and are prepared to act when defenders are threatened for the human rights work they do and ideals they represent.
As PBI-UK director Susi Bascon describes, human rights defenders accompanied by PBI are our modern day Nelson Mandelas, often working behind the scenes doing very important work that goes unnoticed. Click on the image to watch a video recently produced by PBI-UK in honor of PBI's 35th anniversary about the work of these courageous defenders and consider giving a gift to PBI-USA today or volunteering with one of our field projects.
Whether you are able to volunteer or make a donation to PBI, your contribution to our work is what makes it possible. In solidarity, The PBI-USA Team |
