PBI is currently recruiting field volunteers for Kenya and Honduras. Application deadlines are approaching!
Spread the word!

As you know, international volunteers are the heart of PBI's work. Volunteers in the field act as our witnesses, voices, and peacekeepers. They deter violence against human rights defenders, advocate with our diplomats and government, and show the world that there are folks in the U.S. and globally, like you and me, who are watching and prepared to act when defenders are in danger.
Read a short piece from Tracy Baumgart about her time as a volunteer in Kenya and Nepal.

Today, the situation for human rights defenders in Honduras and Kenya is more alarming than ever. Our projects in Kenya and Honduras are our newest, but already many local defenders have told us just how desperate their needs for international protection are. And with your support and solidarity, we can respond. Click here to read more about the situation in Kenya and click here to read about Honduras.

PBI is now recruiting new field volunteers for Kenya and Honduras for placement in 2016. To learn how to become a volunteer in Honduras, click here, and apply by September 6th. And to learn about how to become a volunteer in Kenya, click here, and apply by September 17th.

If you are not ready to apply this September but are interested in future opportunities for a field volunteer placement with PBI, join us the weekend of October 17, 2015 in Washington, DC for our Volunteer Orientation Weekend. Registration is now open. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited. To learn more about our orientation weekends, click here to visit our Volunteer Orientation webpage.

Many of us are not able to volunteer, for reasons of family, jobs and commitments at home. But we can support PBI's volunteers from the U.S., who dedicate at least a year of their lives, and put themselves on the line each day, for the cause of peace. This fall, U.S. volunteer, Lena Weber, will begin her yearlong placement in Honduras. Click here to support Lena's upcoming field work.

Sophia was a PBI volunteer in Colombia for a year. In this short video she explains what the team of volunteers do, her experience, and the situation for HRDs.
P.S. If you're wondering what the day-to-day of a PBI volunteer looks like, watch this powerful video by Sophia Kerridge, a former field volunteer in Colombia.

Thanks in advance for your continued support,
