Under the North Light: The Life and Work of Maud and Miska Petersham is an award-winning dual biography of the Petershams. They were pioneers in a golden age of children's book publishing, and they authored/illustrated over 100 books. They won the Caldecott in 1946 for The Rooster Crows. Their visually stunning story is told for the first time by Lawrence Webster, a librarian and non-profit consultant, who knew the Petershams when she was growing up in Woodstock, NY. According to School Library Journal, "This biography looks at the lives of two of the most influential illustrators of children's books in the 20th century and will be of interest to scholars, librarians, and art students." Coming in the spring of 2015 from WoodstockArts is Living Large: The Unconventional Love Story of Wilna Hervey and Nan Mason, a co-biography of one of Woodstock's first same-sex artist couples.
