The mind is a flexible mirror, adjust it, to see a better world.

The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.
Thich Nhat Hanh

Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.

Turns out imaginative thinking -- daydreaming really -- is good for us. Counterintuitively it actually enhances self-control. That mind-wandering leads us to better choices and a more fulfilled life.

Just as mindfulness trains you to maintain focus and be in the present, positive daydreaming keeps your life goals in front of you. So make time for a little mindfulness and a little mind-wandering. It will make your real journey even more interesting. Check out this related article: "Dreams of Glory"

You don't need to look far to see how popular augmented reality is becoming -- you can just ask one of the millions of Pokmon GO gamers out wandering with their cell phones. But augmented reality is not only about Pikachu and Jigglypuff, it also looks to have a serious future in marketing.

Several major companies, including IKEA and Ray-Ban, are already experimenting with augmented reality apps. Researchers at Digi-Capital estimate that the augmented reality market could be worth $150 billion by 2020, redefining many industries including health care, tourism and marketing.

Word Wise
Seeing the Zen In Your Work Day

Cheerful young business woman holding head in hands and keeping eyes closed while sitting at her working place We see the word "Zen" everywhere, and people take it as shorthand for
"blissed out" or "calm and peaceful." But what is it really? Zen Buddhism is a wisdom tradition that focuses on meditation and experiencing life just as it is now in this moment without adding anything extra. (Sandra Pawula parses it out a bit more here.) So what does that mean for us in the context of work?

Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh noted a set of actions we can take to stay balanced at work and see our work as a way of creating a better world. Here are a few ways we can bring mindfulness to work:
  • Consider all your time as your own instead of dividing it into "work time" and "personal time." Each moment is yours if you stay in the present moment and keep in touch with your body and mind.
  • Refrain from saying or doing anything when you are angry and irritated. Breathe before you send that email or open your mouth.
  • Relax for a few minutes before you go home. Leave your negative energy and frustrations at the office.

Mindfulness practices are simple but not easy. Here are more ways you can bring mindfulness into your working day.
