Let him that would move the world first move himself. Socrates
Rock and roll music, if you like it, if you feel it, you can't help but move to it. That's what happens to me. I can't help it. Elvis Presley

At High Point we talk about how fast time flies. (There's a rumor that it's already October.) So how can you slow time to a point where you can catch your breath? Neuroscientists have discovered that your brain actually needs more stimuli to feel like you are savoring the hours. Inc. Magazine offers these five techniques based on research: Keep learning. Visit new places. Meet new people. Try new activities. Be spontaneous.
As a wise man once said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Transcribe It
We record a lot of interviews, and transcribing them ourselves is a natural part of processing and internalizing the information. We're excited to have found this great little Chrome browser-based app called Transcribe. It lets you call up any recorded file and transcribe it in the browser window, then download it as a Word doc. Best of all, it integrates all the playback controls as function keys on your keyboard: Play, pause, go forward or reverse a few seconds, even speed up or slow down the playback to match your typing speed. No more flipping back and forth between the recording and the document you're working on.

Apps to Keep You Moving
If you're looking for a little motivation to keep fit and keep moving, consider joining the 46 million people who use fitness apps. According to a report by Nielsen, nearly one third of smartphone users use fitness apps to track their diet and exercise and motivate them to move. Popular apps that connect to wearable devices include Fitbit's app with 3.3 million users and Nike+Running, which has 0.8 million users. The most popular standalone apps the month of the Nielsen survey were MyFitnessPal, with 8.7 million users, Nexercise, with 3 million users and RunKeeper, which had 2.1 million. What motivates you to move? |
The Politics of Color
Words and images can be combined simply and effectively into infographics to connote big ideas. The same can often be true for colors. As elections approach, you might be curious to learn how Republicans became "red" and Democrats became "blue."

U.S. Bank: Freight Payment White Paper
Making sense of complex information aimed at a highly knowledgeable and very specific technical audience is one of the things we do best at High Point Creative. Sometimes that comes in the form of writing a sophisticated white paper or creating the narrative for an in-depth industry research paper. Here's a recent example, where we helped U.S. Bank's Freight Payment division develop this paper: The Final Link in End-to-End Supply Chain Visibility. [PDF]
Naming Projects
High Point is often called on to create names. Recent engagements include naming a company's new division, a service enhancement and a cloud application. We bring a strategic approach to the process, creating a rationale for each name that helps direct clients in their final selection.
