Industrial Relations Update

As part of the initiatives the Industrial Relations Committee has undertaken to address the challenges our members face with registering pressure vessels and fitting, Canadian Registration Number (CRN), we wish to collect examples of frustrations you have experienced with respect to time, costs, delays.  We wish to use these examples in documentation and to present to regulatory or government committees or other associations.

The overall goal of the committee is to harmonize the registration system across Canada, thereby reducing costs and time to market without sacrificing public safety. This is a great opportunity to highlight the need for harmonization to a larger pressure equipment community. More awareness of the issue will help develop solutions faster, which is part of the strategy outlined at the June AGM. Please provide input here.

The committee has also completed its survey of Certification Body responses on mark acceptance and factory audit policies, see link.

Message from the CPCA President

It looks as through 2015 will be known as the year of change.  The NDP has become the government in Alberta, the Liberals won a majority in Ottawa, and a barrel of oil went from $80 to $43.50.  The CPCA has also seen change.  Mike Holterman of GE has passed the Presidency to me, Bill Dyer of VEGA, as he ventures into a prosperous career in Texas.  His enthusiasm and dedication to the position will be missed by all members of the CPCA. Market Insight

CPCA has recently implemented a new Market Insight Committee headed up by Peter Dello. This new committee is a subset of our Statistics Committee with a mandate to review all reports (both member based and outsourced) to determine what is working and what needs to be updated to provide maximum value to members. We don't want to put more pressure on members to provide more data but make better use of the data currently on hand.  Click here to provide product input to help us strengthen our reporting base.
