10 Tips for Easier Cooking
With Spring and Summer on the way, comes family gatherings. Whether celebrating a graduation party, Mother's or Father's Day or just having a family BBQ, consider the following tips to simplify the meal preparation:

1. Does your recipes call for a lot of ingredients? Come up with a game plan, gather everything you need and put it in one place before starting to cook.
2. Try to find recipes that don't involve multi-tasking - Crockpot meals, one-pot meals or salads. That way you don't have to remember checking the oven while you're preparing another part of your meal.
3. If you have tremors or difficulty using your hands and your meal includes a lot of cutting, try to find pre-cut items at the grocery store. Many stores have already cut cheese, meats, vegetables and fruit. This may cost more, but it will save on time, energy and potential injury.
4. Make extra servings of your meal, that way you can freeze it on days when you don't have the energy to prepare a full meal.
5. If you get tired easily, try to take a nap before you start to cook and also keep a chair the height of your counter available, so you can sit while you prep your food.
6. Make your kitchen work for you! Consider replacing knobs with easy to hold handles.
7. Use tools, pots and pans that are light-weight and easy to grasp. Thick handles make holding these items easier.
8. Opening a jar is never an easy task, if your hands are too weak or the lid is on too tight, improve your grip by putting on a rubber glove, or investing in a thin, waffle-grid sheet, like these
9. Keep items you use often in an easy-to-reach shelf or drawer.
10. Practice safety - use cut-resistant gloves to prep.

Remember to have fun, enjoy the process of cooking for yourself, friends and family and don't be afraid to ask for assistance.
Hoops for Parkinson's

Our 1st Annual Hoops for Parkinson's was a slam dunk! Over 30 people gathered to cheer on the Denver Nuggets against the Los Angeles Lakers on March 7th.

Not only did the Nuggets bring Denver a win, with a final score of 117-107, but $5 of every ticket sold through the Parkinson Association link, was donated to support the Parkinson Association's programs and services. A huge thanks to the Denver Nuggets for their support and to the Parkinson's community for your continued dedication and support!
Sunday, March 20 | Jefferson County's NAAC Stadium in Golden

Join this event to help raise awareness of Parkinson's and don't forget, when registering, to make an additional contribution to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies. The race coordinator, All-Out Multicourse Productions, will match every additional contribution made!
