Colorado Courage 5k Run
Saturday, August 23 | Cheesman Park

Race, jog or walk with the Parkinson Association of the Rockies for the 2nd Annual Colorado Courage 5k Run. The run is Denver's only run to show support of those living courageously with Parkinson's disease. The event is family-friendly; bring your kids, strollers, leashed dogs and friends to the race!

Last year we had over 200 runners and walkers and raised over $13,000 for the Parkinson's Association of the Rockies. This year will be even bigger with an estimated 500 participants and a goal of raising $25,000 or more!

Pre-Event Registration: $30.00/Participant
Event-Day Registration: $35.00/Participant

EXERCISE TIPS

(Click here for a complete list of all the Parkinson Association exercise classes)

1) Try to incorporate mindful walking into your daily routine. Take longer strides with feet hip-width apart, keep the torso upright and practice lifting the feet higher or marching. These styles of walking will help with stiffness, balance and stability.  And have FUN! If you are with a family member or friend, hold hands and practice swinging the arms when you walk. -Nikki Reese, Yoga Instructor

2) Visualization is key; create a story or description for yourself that can complement the movement of your exercise. Doing so gives you a very human association with what can be a mundane, physical exercise  (Just like the Karate Kid - Wax on, Wax off!) - Private Freeman, Rhythm and Grace Instructor

3) The secret is to find exercises that you enjoy! There are so many ways to exercise. Finding something you enjoy will automatically increase regular performance. You will not reap the benefits of exercise if you are not enjoying it, and avoid doing it. You can also modify almost any exercise so you can continue doing what you like to do. The fun of dancing, cycling or boxing may surprise you and become your new passion. - Erica DeMarch, High Intensity Exercise Instructor
