Parkinson Association of the Rockies

Betty

Thank You Barb and Lee Mendel

We bid farewell and extend our gratitude to long-time board members, Barb and Lee Mendel.  While Barb and Lee's presence will be greatly missed on the Board of Directors of the Parkinson Association of the Rockies, their ten years of dedicated service will continue to ripple throughout the organization.

Whether bringing new people to events, pushing for new programs or encouraging others to start a family fund similar to their Mendel Family Exercise Fund; the Mendels have been true ambassadors of the Association. They have been instrumental in raising community awareness and helping to grow the Parkinson Association into a statewide organization.

Our hats are off to the Mendels in thanks for their outstanding service as board members of the Parkinson Association of the Rockies and the incredible impact they have and will continue to have on the Parkinson's community. We sincerely appreciate Barb and Lee for all they have done to support, strengthen and empower the Parkinson's community throughout Colorado.  Thank you.

Research in Colorado

KW-6002

A double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled study to assess the efficacy and safety of oral Istradefylline (KW-6002) in patients with moderate to severe Parkinson's disease who are already on Levodopa/Carbidopa or Levodopa/Benserazide therapy. Patients will be randomized 1:1:1 to receive either Istradefylline 20 mg per day, or Istradefylline 40 mg per day or an equivalent placebo. Patients will be treated for a 12 week period to demonstrate the effectiveness of Istradefylline in improving Parkinson's disease symptoms (referred to as improvement in patient OFF time) and that Istradefylline has an acceptable safety profile in this group. Patients will continue on their existing Levodopa combination therapy throughout the study period.

  • Must have a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease
  • Be 30 years of age or older
  • Have been on levodopa therapy for at least one year with a positive response

Effect of Rasagiline on Cognition

This is a 24-week, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, add-on, parallel-group study to evaluate the effect of rasagiline on cognitive function in adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in Parkinson's disease (PD-MCI)
