With the end of February here, Italian-American students across the country are finishing their applications for a Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF) scholarship, hoping to follow the many hundreds of students before them who, through the years, have won financial aid from the SIF to pursue their academic dreams.

While some SIF scholarships awarded each year are perpetual and others are partially funded by co-sponsoring organizations, a number require supplemental or full funding from our general scholarship fund in order to be given this year.

We hope this is where you will come in, to give a hand to deserving students with a contribution to the SIF general scholarship fund.

In today's competitive world -- competitive for spots at the nation's best academic institutions, competitive for scholarship aid -- we think it's worth it to take a chance on these brightest Italian American students each year.

Because we never know who will turn out to be the next Enrico Fermi, Lee Iacocca, Maria Bartiromo, or Charles Bonaparte; or perhaps the next ground-breaker like Geraldine Ferraro, Antonin Scalia, or Ella Grasso.
