Matteo Renzi Named New Prime Minister of Italy

Matteo Renzi, the former mayor of Florence, became Italy's new Prime Minister in late February, taking over for Enrico Letta. The 39-year-old politician has never been a member of parliament, but has the highest approval rating of any politician in Italy. Renzi hopes to be a break from the past in every way as he moves Italy's government forward. 

 

U.S. President Obama sent congratulations, reaffirming the deep bonds that the U.S. and Italy share. Read more about their conversation, here.

New Film Unbroken Tells Incredible Story of World War II Veteran Louis Zamperini

Academy Award winning actress Angelina Jolie will direct Unbroken, the incredible story of Louis Zamperini, due out this Christmas.

 

Based on the true story and best-selling book by Laura Hellenbrand, Unbroken tells the story of Zamperini, a former 1936 Olympic runner, World War II prisoner of war and Italian American. After a near-fatal plane crash during his time in the service, Zamperini survived in a raft for 47 days, only to be caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

The Sons of Italy Sustaining Patrons Circle is a special recognition society for a group of dedicated philanthropists making recurring monthly gifts to carry on the work of the Sons of Italy Foundation®. Sustaining Patrons Circle members are an important component of the SIF's ability to continue crucial support for its programs and causes.
 
 

There are multiple ways you can signup for recurring giving:
