From the Minister: You've Gotta Dance, Like Nobody's Watching
This Sunday we'll talk of joy - of dancing, of tambourines, of singing - the kind of delight that King David had when he joyfully brought the Ark of God back into Jerusalem, finally recovered from their enemies. But some looked on scornfully - such a spectacle! Tell me, do you dance, as if nobody's watching?

Children do. They twirl and spin with abandon. We're baptizing a baby on Sunday,
and to me this occasion is the perfect example of delight and joy: babies know how
to smile without limit. Come and twirl and swirl and sing with us, this Sunday.

-Joy
Gabriel Hamilton Aumond, son of members Bernardo Aumond and Meaghan Hamilton, to be baptized on July 14th.
Upcoming Events

Save the Date: Sunday, July 12,
"Transcendentalism:  The Second American Revolution?"

The Rev. Jenny Rankin will meet with us after morning prayer to share her expertise on this influential group of 19th Century Unitarians, luminaries such as Emerson, Thoreau, Margaret Fuller and the talented Alcott family.   She'll note connections to King's Chapel and (weather permitting) we'll do a short walking tour, literally "walking in their footsteps" as we visit some nearby sites that were important in their lives.

Another Summer Barbecue at our Garden: Wednesday, July 29th, 7 PM

Come to the second summer barbecue in the beautiful Parish House Garden, behind 64 Beacon Street. We'll gather at 7:00, right after our 6 PM service in the church.
Come for one or both - and bring something to share, if you can. Hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

We Rejoice with those who Rejoice

An update from former KC choir member Craig Lemming: on Saturday June 20, 2015, Craig was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate by the Episcopal Church in Minnesota (in preparation for ordination to the priesthood in 2017).  Congratulations and blessings to Rev. Lemming! While in seminary, Craig has been singing at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in St. Paul, MN.

Off the Bench: Notes from a Peripatetic Pedaler
By Heinrich Christensen
From June 28 to July 1, I attended the Northeastern Regional Convention of the American Guild of Organists in New Haven. Lots of great recitals, inspiring worship experiences, and fascinating workshops on topics such as the tuning systems used for Buxtehude's organ works, Luther's chorales used in Bach cantatas and organ works, guild certification programs, and vocal fitness! All in the context of catching up with colleagues from around the region and meeting new additions to the organ ranks of the Northeast.

I will be Off the Bench for the next three weeks, vacationing in Holland and Denmark. From the Bench will return with renewed vigor when I return.
Tuesday Recitals

Accessibility and Hearing Assists

Our beautiful Georgian sanctuary designed by Peter Harrison and completed in 1754, has been lovingly maintained by the congregation since its completion.  Some of the box pews have been made wheel-chair accessible.  Ushers are available to assist those who are wheelchair-bound to those pews.

Many of us have trouble hearing in our sanctuary, which does not have amplification.  Small hearing devices are available; an usher also will be happy to provide one, and explain how they work.

The Book of Common Prayer According to the Use in King's Chapel is the cornerstone of worship at our 11 am Morning Prayer Services.  Printed orders of service including hymns, Psalms, and responsive sections of the Prayer Book liturgy are available to facilitate participation in worship for everyone.
