What citizens are saying about city services?
Building Department: He said he is new to Newnan and was working on his deck when Mr. Duncan stopped by and politely told him he needed to come and get a permit to do that type of work.  He came to the Building Department and talked with Mr. Brian Parten and he said he is a "peach".  He said he knows that their jobs are not easy, especially asking people to follow code, but that Mr. Parten is a wonderful face for the City and now as he is paying City taxes he is glad to have them working for him - he is happy to be in Newnan!  - Richard

Feature Event- Christmas Parade Past & Present
The City of Newnan and staff put on the annual Christmas Parade!

With the warmer weather in December, droves of people came out to historic downtown to watch the annual tradition. The parade was a huge hit for citizens of all ages.  The grand marshal was Police Chief Buster Meadows. New this year, the city garage also had many of the city vehicles decorated in the parade. The city also had a City Float in the parade. more photos

Congrats to the City of Newnan for winning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the GFOA Budget Award again this year!
The City of Newnan has won GFOA's Distinguished Budget Award for the past 26 consecutive years!  The GFOA(Government Finance Officers Association) established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
Additionally, the City has won GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 2009 through 2014 for its CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report).
