SIGHT Project Funding Deadlines
The Steering Committee continues accepting proposals for SIGHT project funding. The committee will award grants of US$500 to nearly $20,000. The activities that we fund must be completed by the end of 2016 to be considered.

Call for Papers: ARGENCON - HAC/SIGHT 2016   

SIGHT has partnered with ARGENCON to create an entire new track for Humanitarian Technology at the conference.

SIGHTs in R9 can submit both posters or papers.

SIGHT volunteers whose work gets accepted will be eligible to apply for partial funding (50% of conference expenses up to a maximum of USD $650) through the Conference Support Program.

RFID Innovation and Applications in the Spotlight in Southern Alberta
RFID talk
Radio frequency identification tags are putting products in emerging markets online, enhancing fields such as emergency services livestock, oil and gas, construction, and manufacturing, healthcare, and non-profit logistics, according to Glen Kathler, director of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology's RFID Application Development Lab.

RFID tags improve processes and track assets, including clothing and medical devices, Kathler says. Kathler made the remarks in a talk called Radio Frequency Identification: Innovation and Applications at an event hosted by IEEE SIGHT Southern Alberta.

First-Aid Lessons Kits by the Artisanal Deep Sea Fishers
People hold new first aid kits
The Artisanal Deep Sea Fishers SIGHT distributed first aid kits and training to fishers in Tamil Nadu, India. These sea-weathering kits are made from marine plywood, rather than plastic or metal, by students of Cape Institute of Technology and Trinity College of Engineering.
